David Beckham Teeth: Veneers, Bonding or Natural?

Has David Beckham had veneers, and what happened to his front tooth? Those two questions drive most searches for David Beckham teeth. The second has an answer in the press: in February 2017 Hello magazine reported, citing The Sun, that he broke a front tooth snowboarding in Whistler, Canada, and had it fixed by an emergency dentist. About veneers there is no public statement from him.

In this article from Prof Clinic we look at what is on the record, how long veneers last, how a broken front tooth is repaired and what to do in the first hour.

What Has David Beckham Said About His Teeth?

Nothing about veneers, bonding or any other treatment. The one dental event in the news is the 2017 fall: Hello’s report, published on 23 February 2017, says Beckham broke a front tooth while snowboarding on a family holiday.

According to The Sun, as Hello relayed it, he saw an emergency dentist within hours of returning to London and the incisor was fixed. Hello reported this secondhand, carried no quote from Beckham and does not say how the tooth was repaired, so the report establishes that the tooth was broken and treated, not which technique was used.

Does David Beckham Have Veneers, and How Long Do They Last?

No statement from Beckham says so. A 2023 Hello feature, updated in 2026, lines up photos of his smile over the years alongside dentists’ views, and it contains no remark from Beckham himself. We have left those opinions aside, because a photo shows what a smile looks like, not why.

How Long Do Veneers Last, and When Do They Need Replacing?

The Cleveland Clinic gives veneers a lifespan of 10 to 15 years with proper care. The American Dental Association adds that a veneer may chip, crack, wear down or loosen over time and can need re-bonding, repair or replacement. Porcelain is strong and long-lasting, while composite is less resistant to stains and wear.

Care decides much of that lifespan:

  • Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth daily, because cavities can still form under or around a veneer.
  • Avoid biting nails, chewing hard objects and using teeth as tools, and wear a mouthguard for sport.
  • Limit coffee, tea and red wine, and skip whitening products, which the Cleveland Clinic says can scratch veneers.
  • Keep your check-ups, and call your dentist right away if a veneer feels wrong or falls off.

The ADA also says veneers may not suit people who clench or grind their teeth, or who have a deep overbite.

What Do You Do When a Front Tooth Breaks, and How Is It Repaired?

For a broken or cracked tooth, the ADA’s advice is:

  1. Rinse your mouth at once with warm water to clean the area.
  2. Hold a cold compress on your face to limit swelling.
  3. Contact a dentist, or go to an emergency room, as soon as possible.

If an adult tooth is knocked out entirely, the ADA says to keep it moist at all times, push it gently back into the socket touching only the crown, and get to a dentist right away. See a dentist even if the tooth doesn’t hurt, since the Cleveland Clinic notes that some cracks cause no symptoms and untreated cracks can lead to infection.

The dentist then chooses from four repairs, according to the damage. Bonding fills the break with tooth-coloured resin, usually in a single visit. A crown caps the tooth with porcelain or ceramic. A veneer covers the front of the tooth with a custom shell. A root canal removes infected pulp when the crack has let infection in. The Cleveland Clinic says bonding typically lasts three to 10 years before it needs touch-ups, and, unlike veneers, typically needs no enamel removal, so it can be reversed.

So is a broken front tooth an emergency? Treat it as one: rinse, protect it from further damage and call a dentist as soon as possible, because a crack that doesn’t hurt can still be a crack that needs repair.
