What does dental treatment in Turkey cost once you add flights, hotel nights and time off work? On our example budget, a one-trip veneer plan adds about £1,343 in cash, and a two-trip implant plan about £2,355, or £3,735 once lost working days are counted. A Turkish quote saves you money only if it sits below your home quote by more than the trip adds.
Holding two quotes and not knowing how to compare them is a common worry, and the sum is simpler than it looks.
In this guide from Prof Clinic in Istanbul you’ll find a formula you can redo with your own prices, five worked scenarios, Turkey’s official dental tariff and NHS England’s charges. By the end, you’ll know how to compare two quotes fairly.
What Is the True Cost of Dental Treatment in Turkey?
The true cost is the treatment quote plus everything the quote leaves out: flights, hotel nights, meals and local travel, lost working days and check-ups at home. We call the comparison the Total-Trip Test: is the gap between your home price and the Turkish price larger than everything the trip adds? If it is, the trip makes financial sense. If not, the cheaper-looking quote isn’t cheaper.
Total cost = Q + (F × T × P) + (H × N) + (L × D × P) + (V × W × Pw) + U + C
- Treatment quote (Q): your all-in quote. The sum leaves it blank, because it’s your number.
- Flights (F × T × P): £250 return per person, times trips, times travellers.
- Hotel (H × N): £80 a night for a shared room, times nights.
- Local costs (L × D × P): transport and meals at £45 per person per day (nights plus 1 day per trip).
- Lost work (V × W × Pw): £153.32 for each lost working day, which is the ONS median full-time pay of £766.60 a week divided by 5, times days lost, times travellers who lose pay.
- Home check-ups (U): £55.80, the cost of two NHS Band 1 charges. If you can’t use the NHS, use a private check-up price.
- Buffer (C): 10% of flights, hotel and local costs.
In short: home quote − Turkish quote > trip overhead, where overhead is everything above except Q. Only the earnings and NHS figures are official; the rest are round-number examples, so swap in your own. “Cash” overhead is money that leaves your account, and “all-in” adds lost working days.
Why this matters to you: if you’re self-employed or have no paid leave, use the all-in figure. If your leave is paid, the cash figure may do, though leave still has a value.
How Much Does a Dental Trip to Turkey Add to Your Bill?
For a UK patient travelling alone, a one-trip veneer plan adds about £2,109 all-in and a two-trip implant plan about £3,735, before any treatment fee. We allow two trips for dental implants, because most implant patients at Prof Clinic need two visits, and one for dental veneers.
Scenarios A and B assume two trips of 5 and 7 nights and 9 working days lost. C and D assume one 7-night trip and 5 working days. E is A plus a 4-night trip and 3 more working days. In D the package covers hotel and transfers, so only £25 a day is left for meals.
| Scenario (GBP) | Flights | Hotel | Meals and local | Lost work | Home check-ups | Buffer | Cash you pay | All-in with lost work |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A: Implants, 2 trips, alone | 500 | 960 | 630 | 1,380 | 56 | 209 | 2,355 | 3,735 |
| B: Implants, 2 trips, with companion | 1,000 | 960 | 1,260 | 2,760 | 56 | 322 | 3,598 | 6,358 |
| C: Veneers, 1 trip, alone | 250 | 560 | 360 | 767 | 56 | 117 | 1,343 | 2,109 |
| D: Veneers, 1 trip, hotel and transfers in package | 250 | 0 | 200 | 767 | 56 | 45 | 551 | 1,317 |
| E: Implants, 2 trips plus 1 extra trip | 750 | 1,280 | 855 | 1,840 | 56 | 288 | 3,229 | 5,069 |
These are costs on top of the treatment fee, using example inputs dated 9 October 2026. They are not Prof Clinic prices.
- Time off work is the biggest line in every scenario. Nine lost working days at the ONS median are worth £1,380.
- For the two-trip implant plan (A), the Turkish quote must be at least £2,355 below your home quote to cover the cash costs, or £3,735 once time off is counted.
- A working companion (B) lifts the all-in total from £3,735 to £6,358, about 70% more, most of it from the second traveller’s flights, meals and working days.
- Hotel and transfers in the package (D against C) cut the cash overhead from £1,343 to £551. Those costs have moved into the quote itself, so compare like with like.
- The extra trip (E) is the easiest cost to forget. One unplanned return adds about £1,334: £250 for flights, £320 for hotel nights, and the rest in local costs, buffer and three lost working days.
What it means in real life: a two-trip plan behaves like two separate bills for flights, nights and leave. Put every option on the same sheet.

Does the Number of Trips Matter More Than Flight Prices?
Yes. On these example inputs, the number of trips moves the total more than any single price: a second 7-night trip adds about £2,054 all-in, while cutting the return flight from £400 to £150 saves £550 across two trips.
Change one price at a time in scenario A and the scale is clear. A return flight at £150, £250 or £400 gives all-in totals of £3,515, £3,735 and £4,065. A hotel at £50, £80 or £150 a night gives £3,339, £3,735 and £4,659.
For one traveller on 7-night trips, with 5 working days lost on each, the all-in overhead is £2,109 for one trip, £4,163 for two and £6,217 for three.
What to ask your dentist: whether your plan can safely fit into fewer trips, and what the earliest safe return date is. Healing takes the time it takes, and a tight budget can’t shorten it, as our guide to how many days and trips treatment takes explains.

What Does Turkey’s Official Dental Tariff Say About Prices?
The tariff is a published, itemised list of professional fees. It works better as a sense check on your quote than as a visitor price list. The Turkish Dental Association (Türk Dişhekimleri Birliği, TDB) publishes its 2026 fee tariff and lists every item twice: without VAT and with 10% VAT. The Trabzon Dental Chamber calls it a minimum fee schedule for private dentists.
A few items show the scale. Implant placement is 22,440 TRY (about £345), the crown on the implant 13,680 TRY (about £210) and a regional CT scan 2,750 TRY (about £42). A porcelain laminate veneer is 26,400 TRY (about £406), roughly 1.9 times a zirconia crown at 13,750 TRY (about £211).
The tariff leaves out two things you’ll want in a real quote:
- Package prices. Clinics serving international patients often quote all-inclusive packages, and the tariff doesn’t cover them.
- Materials. The implant item excludes the implant fixture, sinus lifting excludes the biomaterial, bone grafting excludes the graft, and the implant crown excludes the abutment.
So we added up the tariff items a typical course would involve. To do the same for your plan, add the items, add back the excluded materials and compare the total with your quote.
| Plan (tariff items added up) | TRY with VAT | GBP | EUR | USD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One implant tooth: regional CT + placement + implant crown | 38,870 | 597 | 705 | 790 |
| The same, plus sinus lift and bone grafting | 69,285 | 1,065 | 1,256 | 1,409 |
| 8 zirconia crowns + examination + panoramic X-ray | 113,690 | 1,747 | 2,061 | 2,312 |
| 8 porcelain laminate veneers + examination + panoramic X-ray | 214,890 | 3,302 | 3,896 | 4,370 |
These are professional fees for example combinations, not price quotes. They exclude implant fixtures, abutments, graft materials and laboratory brands. We converted them at the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) midpoint rates of 9 October 2026.
Why this matters to you: if a quote comes in well below the totals above, even after you add back the excluded materials, ask what’s different. It may be another material, fewer teeth or items charged later.
How Do NHS Dental Charges Change the Comparison?
NHS England charges one flat fee per course of treatment, which is hard to beat for clinically necessary work. These are the charges from 1 April 2026, with the previous charge in brackets:
- Band 1: £27.90 (£27.40). Examination, advice, X-rays if needed and simple gum care such as scaling.
- Band 2: £76.60 (£75.30). Band 1 plus fillings, root canal treatment, extractions and other oral surgery.
- Band 3: £332.10 (£326.70). Bands 1 and 2 plus crowns, dentures, bridges and other custom-made appliances.
- Urgent care: £27.90 (£27.40). Examination, X-rays and urgent treatment.
The band contents follow the NHS’s own descriptions. On its treatments page the NHS lists implants, veneers and whitening as mostly private: implants are “usually only available privately and are expensive”, veneers are “generally only available privately, unless you can show a clinical need”, and whitening is “cosmetic and therefore generally only available privately”. That gives you two different comparisons:
- Crowns, fillings, root canals and dentures you clinically need, if you can get NHS care. Here a Turkish trip rarely wins on price. One Band 3 charge of £332.10 covers a course, while the tariff for two zirconia crowns alone is 27,500 TRY (about £423) before flights.
- Implants, cosmetic veneers and whitening. These are private in the UK, so the fair comparison is a private UK or EU quote against a Turkish quote plus the trip overhead.
The practical takeaway: start by asking whether your treatment is available on the NHS. If it is, the Total-Trip Test sets a high bar. If it isn’t, the test is the right tool.

Which Hidden Costs of Dental Tourism Should You Ask About?
Ask what sits inside the package and who pays if something needs correcting, and get the answers in writing. UK travel-health guidance recommends a written contract that sets out “responsibility for all costs, including additional treatments, aftercare”. Four groups of questions cover the usual gaps:
- What the price buys: Is it per tooth, unit or arch? Which implant system, abutment and crown material? Are scans, extractions, sinus lifts and bone grafts included if needed, and at what price?
- Travel: Are hotel nights and transfers included on every visit? How many trips and nights does the plan assume?
- After treatment: What does follow-up include, and for how long? Who pays for remakes or an extra trip? Will you receive your X-rays, scans and implant details (system, sizes, batch)?
- Money and risk: In which currency is the price fixed, and is VAT included? Does your travel insurance cover complications? UK guidance says a GHIC or EHIC “does not cover the cost of planned treatments”. Is the provider on the Turkish Ministry of Health’s list of authorised health-tourism providers or authorised facilitators?
The same guidance notes that complications can appear “weeks or even months after a procedure”, so scenario E’s extra trip is worth budgeting for. Our Turkey teeth evidence review covers what the research says about crowns, veneers and risk.

Is Dental Treatment in Turkey Worth It Financially?
Only if the gap between two like-for-like quotes is larger than your own trip overhead. Three habits keep the sum honest:
- Start from the right comparison. A trip is mainly worth pricing for implants, cosmetic veneers and other private-only work, not for care the NHS provides.
- Budget for the extra trip you hope not to need, and ask who pays for it.
- Line up aftercare before you fly. Know which dentist at home will see you, bring your records back, and ask when it is safe to fly.
One limit: the sum covers England only and doesn’t price corrective treatment at home. Our health-tourism statistics show how many people travel to Turkey for care.
What Can You Ask Prof Clinic About Cost and Trips?
We’re in the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul. We offer dental implants, veneers, crowns and the Hollywood smile, plus the rest of our dental treatments. Our packages are all-inclusive (treatment, medications, VIP transfers and hotel options), with structured follow-ups for 12 months. You can start with a free online consultation by sharing photos or X-rays.
We don’t publish prices, and nothing on this page is a Prof Clinic price. The treating dentist decides your plan after examining you. Whichever clinic you choose, ask what its plan assumes about trips and nights.
This page is for general information and cost planning only. It isn’t medical, legal or financial advice. Treatment needs, visits and healing times depend on an individual assessment by a qualified dentist, and the travel inputs are examples.
In short, the true cost of dental treatment in Turkey comes down to one question: is the gap between two like-for-like quotes larger than your own trip overhead? The safest next step is an assessment of what your teeth need, then an itemised plan to run the formula on.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Treatment Costs in Turkey
Is it worth going to Turkey for teeth?
Financially, only if the gap between two like-for-like quotes is larger than your own trip overhead. Compare a package that includes hotel and transfers with a home quote on the same basis. Whether a plan suits you clinically needs an examination.
What are the hidden costs of dental tourism?
Travel and hotel for every trip, a companion’s costs, lost working days, items left out of the quote (such as implant parts or grafts) and check-ups at home. Budget for an unplanned return trip too: about £1,334 in our example.
Is the TDB tariff the price I will pay in Turkey?
No. It’s a minimum fee schedule for private dentists, and it excludes major materials such as implant fixtures. Clinics quote international patients their own package prices, so use the tariff as a sense check on your quote.
How do dental implant costs in Turkey compare with the UK?
Private UK fees vary by practice, so get two written quotes for the same plan and take the trip overhead off the gap between them. At the tariff, one implant tooth starts at 38,870 TRY, about £597, before the fixture and abutment.
What are NHS dental charges in 2026?
In England from 1 April 2026, Band 1 is £27.90, Band 2 £76.60, Band 3 £332.10 and urgent treatment £27.90. One charge covers a whole course of treatment within the band. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have separate systems, so check your own charges before comparing.
How much does a companion or an extra trip add?
A working companion on both implant trips lifts the all-in overhead from £3,735 to £6,358, about 70% more. One unplanned extra trip adds about £1,334, mostly flights, hotel nights and three lost working days.
